The “Maria” Collection is dedicated to Maria Zankovetska, an iconic figure of Ukrainian theater at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.
The collection captures the very instant of her entrance onto the stage—a moment when she stands before the audience, gathered in anticipation to see and hear her.
The design of each piece echoes the spatial composition of the Lviv Academic Drama Theater named after Maria Zankovetska—its architectural rhythm and stage orientation.
Subtle references to theatrical curtains are woven into the forms, evoking the moment just before each of her appearances began. The gemstones are arranged in a semicircle, mirroring the layout of theater seating. Diamonds and rubies follow the hall’s actual arrangement: rubies in the front row symbolize those closest to her, while the red accents gradually disperse outward, reflecting the presence of the audience.
DUKACHI has also contributed to the publication of the book “Maria Zankovetska. Beyond Censorship and Patriarchy.” It reveals the actress’s personal story—her strength, resilience, and inner freedom that continue to inspire both theater and contemporary culture. The book also features material dedicated to the DUKACHI “Maria” jewelry collection.
