Description
Description
Across Europe, Easter pastries carry meaning beyond taste. From Ukrainian “Paska” and “Kalach” to France’s braided “Brioche de Pâques”, Italy’s dove-shaped “Colomba” and Spain’s egg-topped “Mona de Pascua”, these seasonal forms reflect rituals of renewal, celebration, and continuity.
The piece is inspired by the Easter Kalach — a traditional braided bread placed in holiday baskets in some Ukrainian regions and also baked for other celebrations such as Christmas, weddings, and christenings. This motif echoes the French Brioche de Pâques. In Provence, brioche is baked in the form of a wreath with eggs — symbols of fertility and resurrection.
The braided shape of the Kalach in the Dukachi collection represents the intersection of Ukrainian and European symbolism. The piece is a symbol of hope and a new cycle.
Sapphires and diamonds are set along the contour, evoking the image of Easter eggs woven into the bread.
